Description alex stinker 2005-03-01 20:34:57 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

hi there,

in comparison to the old system i use (pretty old mp3stocker (www.leif.cx/software) with winamp) it lacks some features:

- with my other system i was able to manage different cds full of mp3s. so i always could carry the files with me. (ok, nowadays with hds sized 300gigs not such a big thing, but still useful)
with adding the cd to the database you gave a name, and if you ever wanting listening a song of the cd, the software said: please enter the cd no.... and copied the file on a harddisc cache (size was configurable, the least played songs were eventually deleted) for playing.
i think it could be implemented simply by adding an extra data field (No.CD) in the database for every file (perhaps also the location of the files on harddisc could be edited manually?)

yammi.sf.net also features this ... perhaps you could get some ideas there how to implement. also the dj feature there (like with 2 sound cards prelistening next songs etc.) is quite neat.

perhaps it fits also in your code for mobile audio players? they are writeable, though...

- something like a compressor/limiter plugin for the output of the music (for older music, recorded more silent) but probably a problem of gstreamer etc.?

- and not really important, but some tagging feature, where you could select specific songs and let them being copied to harddisc with one command. for creating some greatest hits collection for my car-mp3-player....

anyways, thanks for all your work!

alex
