Version:           3.2.3 release (using KDE 3.2.3, Fink/Mac OS X)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1640)
OS:                Darwin (Power Macintosh) release 7.5.0

Using Apple's version of X11 whenever I type the characters + or * it selects something instead... + selects the previous character * selects the next, if I keep typing them it continues to select more... essentially they work just like if I used shift-left and shift-right.  Speaking of which shift-up works the same as + and shift-left, shift-down doesn't do anything...

I'm using the Fink version since I can't seem to get quanta to build myself.

Unfortunately I don't have an Apple computer to find the reason of the 
bug. + and * might be some global shortcut there, but this is just a 
wild guess. You might go through the Settings->Configure Shortcuts and 
see if it's assigned to anything.
 Please also try if you see the same behavior with Kate/Kwrite.

Hmm, doesn't seem like my last comment was posted, probably my fault... in any case yeah it does the same thing in kwrite so I don't think it's got anything to do with Quanta, who do I contact about it then?  Kate developers?

Yes, in this case the bug must go to the Kate developers. I'm reassigning the report to them now.

does this happen in kmail, kedit or any other kde app, too, beside kate/kwrite/quanta/kdevelop?
