Description Carsten Schlipf 2003-09-16 15:35:40 UTC
Version: 2.2.1 (using KDE 3.1.3)
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-18.9

A similar bug was described in http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53993, however it got closed.

The announcement of the track is very nice, however since it covers the taskbar it makes large parts of the taskbar unusable. One thing I frequently would like to use after the track changes is to adjust the volume using the kmix dock icon. However it's covered and I have to wait some seconds untilt the announcement dissapeared.

I see three options:

a) Announce it with a bouble, similar to the announcement of new messages in kopete (the bouble should be closed automatically though).

b) Allow the user to position the announcement window by configuring the coordinates of the top left corner of the announcement window.

c) On-screen display like sim is doing it. See the first screen shot on http://sim-icq.sourceforge.net/sshots.shtml.

Don't we have a standard way of displaying informative messages like kmail. etc. is using?

What sim does is nice, but that doesn't respect the position of kicker AFAICT!

Hmm, why is this one assigned?
Furthermore I just committed a new passivepopup-look to CVS HEAD, please test and tell me if positioning is any better

For the OSD part somebody (maybe me) would have to write a plugin for Noatun. If you want such a plugin just file a new wishlist bug (+ vote) and I'll see when I have time to implement it (I don't need it myself so without any demand I won't get my hands dirty ;) )

I assume this is fixed with the current systray code in CVS.
