Version:           1.2.1 (using KDE 3.1.0)
Installed from:    Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker
Compiler:          gcc version 3.2.2 (Mandrake Linux 9.1 3.2.2-3mdk)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-0.13mdk

performed the following:
#man group

man page appeared in window but could not get back to a prompt.  a ctl-c, ctl-z would not fix it.  Had to open a new window. 
Res 1280x960   24-bits

Is it possible to kill the "man" process from another window? E.g. with 
"killall -9 man" ?

yes, it is possible, but that's not the point.  If I wouldn't mind opening up 
another window, then having a man page lock up a widow wouldn't be an issue for 
me.

What happens if you run the same man command in xterm? Are you sure nothing 
sent a "terminal freeze" (Ctrl+S) sequence? Try hitting Ctrl+Q and see what 
happens. 
 
Could you also test Konsole from KDE 3.1.2?
