Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

I'm not sure wheter kcontrol is the right place for this, but I think so. What I really would like is an application or "something" to backup your personal information, and only that (or maybe more, if anyone wants it).

Examples:
 - backing up your kaddressbook
 - backing up your korganizer-data
 - backing up your konqueror-bookmarks/cookies/whatever
 - backing up your kmail-specific 'what-is-read/unread' data.
 - backing up your all sort of suchlike settings/data.

Can of course be accomplished by backing up all home directories, but that is a bit excessive just to keep some essencial data.

To begin with, it would be cool if this just produced a tar.gz or something of all the relevant data, and had a 'restore' option which restored those things you wanted.

If someone wanted to add more features, if anyone decides to do this 'thing', additional features could be 'send this to server', or maybe writing a "KDE-roaming-server" or something. ;)

Benefits of this application:
 - User doesn't need to backup all sorts of unnecessary things such as his cache, and so forth - and doesn't need to gain much technical clue
 - Roaming is made easier
 - Backing up suddenly isn't a chore anymore.

I hope someone wants to do this.

What you basically want is backing up ~./kde or at least specific subdirs
of it. You can do that manually for now.
