Installed from: Compiled sources

When working with two views on my files, I'm usually in the view I want to continue working with, when I realize, that I don't need the other view anymore.

Right now, I always have to switch to the other window in order to close it.

It would be great if you could switch the behavior of "close (F3)", so it closes always the inactive view.

See also related bug 186185, which asks for an option to close either pane.
Comment 2 Karthik Periagaram 2009-04-25 23:08:34 UTC
Would you consider marking this bug as a duplicate of 186185, which will provide a satisfactory solution to this bug as well?

Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion, but it is not planned to change the current behavior as the number of votes (= 1) and 1 duplicate during 2 years don't indicate that a lot of users have problems with the current behavior. All actions always apply to the active view, so does "Close Split View".

It's kind of stupid when the active working view gets closed. The current behaviour is absolutely unintuitive.

Absolutely. There needs to be an option "close other pane(s)". This hits me about once a day or more.

Really annoying and absurd.
