kmenuedit ver. 0.8 / KDE 4.1.2 on kubuntu 8.10

The program does not change anything in the kde menus, hoever it pretends to save the changes. It does not matter if one invoke it as regular user via right mouse click on the KDE menu launcher or call it as root from the command shell.

the only way to change a program launcher is to use dolphin or konqueror pointing to applications:/.. e.g. to change misconfigured calls of installed system tools requiring root access rights (nvidia panel, printer config etc.)

however, new items cannot be added that way.

Installed from:    Slackware Packages
OS:                Linux

I just installed KDE 3.5.3 and i see that the Menueditor (kmenuedit) dontwwork att all - i can see the changes in ~/.config/menus but nothing at all
show up in K-menu

I run the command kbuildsycoca but there was NO changes in the main K-menu ..
nothing happends in the main menu whenever i try it as root or as a user.

kmenuedit do have some bugs but it works as of 4.2.1
please be more precise with your issue if you still experience it using 4.2.1
