Bug 171600

Summary: open file dialog shows too few of the filename-text
Product: [Frameworks and Libraries] kdelibs Reporter: Ronny <ronnybrendel>
Component: generalAssignee: kdelibs bugs <kdelibs-bugs>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: normal CC: andresbajotierra, jowenn
Priority: NOR
Version: unspecified
Target Milestone: ---
Platform: Ubuntu
OS: Linux
Latest Commit: Version Fixed In:
Attachments: Screenshot of the file open dialog in Kate

Description Ronny 2008-09-24 17:19:49 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

The shown file name is cut at a certain point.
The user is unable to extend this margin in any way.
By dragging the preview window out of the way, the shown text still does not increase

very big annoyance when having long filenames.

Can you still reproduce this bug again with a recent KDE version ( 4.1.3 / 4.2beta1 / 4.2svn)? Thanks :)
Anyway it should be assigned kdelibs (open file dialog)

If you switch to detailed or list view, you can resize the name column, in icon view mode the position of the ellipsis appears to be hard coded

As you can see the test of the directory is cropped, although there is no reason to crop it at that point

Sorry, I am using Kubuntu 8.10, therefore I cannot tell if it's fixed in future versions.

Package: kde
Version: 5:48ubuntu1
