Hi Bernd, Konsole uses the standard KDE 4 look and feel for tabs, so your problem presumably applies to all applications using tabs. I agree that active/inactive tabs are not easy to distinguish with the default KDE 4 settings. You can change the widget style in System Settings. Go to (K-Menu) -> Computer -> System Settings -> Appearance -> Style and change the style to alter the look and feel of controls (buttons) etc. in KDE. Under the Appearance section there is also a Colors section which allows you to change the color scheme and contrast used in KDE applications. Hi Bernd, If you are not sure what other control styles to try, I would recommend 'Cleanlooks' which draws a clear blue bar under the active tab. Hello Robert, thanks for your help. I only have the small problem, that systemsettings doesn't provide the "Style" option on my system. My basic desktop is kde3 and I only updated a few applications to kde4. Some time ago I updated everything to kde3, but this was running so instable, that I probably would have written bug reports all day ;) So I had to go back to kde3. With the complete kde4 desktop systemsettings did provide by far more options than it does now. You don't know which settings I could change in a config file, do you? Thanks again, Bernd PS: K-Menu also doesn't has a "Computer" menu here. In general I also don't use it much, so calling "systemsettings" from the konsole is much more easy for me ;) PPS: Why isn't it called ksystemsysettings? > You don't know which settings I could change in a config file, do you?
The widget style is set by the 'widgetStyle' key in the [General] section of $KDEHOME/share/config/kdeglobals. Change that from 'oxygen' to 'cleanlooks' or 'plastique'
If the $KDEHOME variable is not set, it defaults to either ~/.kde4 or ~/.kde (depending on your distribution)
> PS: K-Menu also doesn't has a "Computer" menu here. I was referring to the KDE 4 menu. If you are using the KDE 3 desktop then you won't see a 'Computer' tab. > Some time ago I updated everything to kde3, but this was running so instable, > that I probably would have written bug reports all day Was that with KDE 4.0 or KDE 4.1? The desktop itself has improved quite a lot in KDE 4.1 so I'd urge you to give that a try if you have the time. I hope this message doesn't come twice now, but I so far I don't see it in the http interface. The latest I tried was 4.0.82, now debian-experimental has .84, but I will for now only update single applications and report their bugs (too busy with other tasks for a complete kde update). Cheers, Bernd And another answer not yet shown in the web interface :( On Saturday 05 July 2008, Robert Knight wrote: > The widget style is set by the 'widgetStyle' key in the [General] section > of $KDEHOME/share/config/kdeglobals. Change that from 'oxygen' to > 'cleanlooks' or 'plastique' Thanks, I changed it from 'plastique' to 'cleanlooks' and now the active tab has a blue underscore. The kde3 style still is better, IMHO, > > If the $KDEHOME variable is not set, it defaults to either ~/.kde4 or > ~/.kde (depending on your distribution) Don't worry about me, I know my systemfs config directories ;) With kde4 from debian-experimental it is ~/.kde4. Thanks again, Bernd |
