Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

I would like to see full dbus interface for every plasma component (as before with dcop).
Comment 1 Aaron J. Seigo 2008-06-05 21:20:55 UTC
define "every component".

dbus interfaces are on the 4.2 roadmap, but this br is too general to be useful as it stands.
Comment 2 Vedran Furač 2008-06-09 02:26:13 UTC
"Every component" - Containments, plasmoids and krunner maybe.

I didn't saw it here: http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.2_Feature_Plan so I filed a wishlist. If it is already planned, then put it there and close this report if you want.

At the very least a way to interact with the desktop containment, query which is shown on the screen, change the background, etc. etc.

I'm still missing at least the "change the background" one so that we can re-add "Set as Background" to the image context menus.

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
