or using the right-click menu over the picture to "open with" for instance... Just like a file browser right-click menu. Using ShowPhoto from digikma would be really nice since we could even make modifications to the pictures (reducing red-eyes and etc.) Well, I'm not sure about the right-click "open with..." idea. My intention was that it should feel natural and not like a computer with context menues and so on. So if you just show you desktop to friends and there's a nice photo floating around it would be cool if you could open it somewhat seamless (no context menu showing up). So by just left-double-clicking the foto to open it full screen and left-double-clicking it again to exit fullscreen. i fully agree on the direct left-click ... although having even more option in the right-click menu would also be nice, hence having a "open with" entry. *** Bug 164606 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** You expect left click opening the picture full screen while other users expect it going to next picture (http://mail.kde.org/pipermail/panel-devel/2008-July/014527.html) or others expect double click to open it (see bug 164606) Clicking is bad as there is no visual hint that left-click or double-click will do something and what it will do. Right click menu is also bad as it'll be quickly over-saturated (open, open with, go to next, pause, ...) We need a larger view on what this plasmoid should be versus GvenView (the official picture application in KDE) and some use cases on what you expect. I suggest you first subscribe to panel-devel mailing list https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/panel-devel to take part in the larger discussion. No, I don't expect left click opening the picture fullscreen, I totally agree with double-clicking (left) it like others want it, too. I also don't want this widget to compete against GvenView in any way. My idea was just to use GvenView to realize the fullscreen presentation of the picture, if that is possible. Actually my intention was, that the ordinary user isn't aware of that GvenView is used for the fullscreen presentation of the picture. I need to know the filename of the current picture in the pricture frame at least. I can open/move it in a file manager. But "move" function in the widget itself will be fine :) Thank you. Maybe simply opening the photo in Gwenview when (left) clicked could be a universal solution. As for being single vs. double clicked, it should have the same behaviour as clicking the icon in Dolphin has. The picture has now an Open Picture menu item on right click which opens the picture in the default picture viewer (GWenView if the user had kdegraphics) Not sure if that fullfills this wish report or if you need more. Sounds fixed to me. |
