In KDE 3 you could configure what would happen when you right-click on the desktop, we need this feature in KDE4 so that when you right click on desktop it will launch the Application Launcher menu.

There is no kicker and kdesktop in KDE 4, but plasma.

nor is there "the" application launcher menu. we will end up supporting menu plugins, but plasma is not and never will be (because it's not the intention) kdesktop.

This needs to be customizable, but I can't think of how it would be done, w/o making some modification to how menus are handled. I guess that you could do this by setting the menus as separate executables, making the Plasmoid act a a loose wrapper on top of it, and allowing the desktop right-click action to run commands. I may be completely off balance, but this would allow for people to use their favorite menu.
