Description Wolfram R. Sieber 2006-08-02 22:17:37 UTC
Version: 1.4.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, (3.1))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-13)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-2-k7

As discussed for Bug 75653, dragging konsole tabs would make life easier. In respect to usability, I'd suggest an improved visual feedback for the drag of a tab.

While for a dragged file or URL a small grey rectangle near the mouse pointer would fit fine, in case of (konsole) tabs a visual effect probably would fit better: during the pick up of the tab the tab frame could become smaller in the horizontal middle (concave), indicating that the user's currently doing something with the tab, -- yes, pulling on it.

I imagine a powerstrips like look. (cf. http://images.google.com/images?q=tesa+power+strips / the "powerstrips" logo here http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0001M0GVK.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg ). (Sorry, that shouldn't be any ad, but that image is the one I am most familiar with.)

This is actually a kdelibs issue, but yes, I agree.

Fixed with new tab drag-and-drop in KDE 4.1

- A 'torn-off' tab is shown next to the mouse cursor when dragging a drag
- An indicator arrow is drawn above the tab bar to indicate where the tab will be dropped.
