I'd confirm this, but I think this bug may be a duplicate of bug 119180 depending on how 119180 has been fixed. 119180 mentions two problems: a) eject doesn't work b) when eject doesn't work k3b deletes the image and cancels the copy. This bug mentions only problem 'b'. Sebastian commented on 119180 that the issue is fixed - if that is just problem 'a' and problem 'b' could still occur then this bug is still valid and I'm happy to confirm it. Otherwise this bug should be marked as a duplicate of 119180. -- If the eject fails k3b should prompt with the 'Please insert a blank disc' dialog and wait for the user to sort out the eject problem himself or click 'Cancel'. Just had this problem also. Lost half hour because of this bug :-P Anyway, k3b should not just erase the cd image, but prompt the user to try ejecting thew media manually.
