Description sean.sweng 2005-12-10 02:07:55 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.0)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When I highlight a folder within Konqueror and then select Compress with the right mouse button, I get an endless spinning dialog that never completes. It doesn't matter which form of compression that I choose.

I notice this is also the case with KDE 3.5.1 sources. It seems related to the kio slaves behaviour. For example, when I try compressing a file in /mnt/d it compresses ok within seconds. When I try to do the same action on the same file, but access it via media:/hda5 it goes into an endless spinning.

I get the same as Stanislav (compiled source 3.5.1).

I can't confirm the bug. Is it happening on all directories or only
to those in a media:/ directory?
Comment 5 Stanislav Nikolov 2006-02-21 16:13:20 UTC
Yes, it is related to the incorrect media:/ kioslave behaviour. When using the real paths, it works okay. When one accesses the same file through the media:/ interface, it goes into infinite loop :/

Cheers

I am closing this as duplicate since the real problem in both cases is that we don't support the media:/ folder
