Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages ...would be especially handy for corporate use as permanently running machines die relatively fast, consume quite a lot of energy, and make a lot of noise especially in terminal pools. So, there should be an option that shuts down the machine automatically if it hasn't been used for N minutes. I wonder why this isn't in wider use as when combined with Wake on LAN, there's absolutely no problem to shut down a normal desktop box if it isn't used.
damn, i knew that somebody would finally request it ... :}
I'd like an interface for selecting times for this kind of thing: when, on idle the system goes into suspend to ram, suspend to disk, shutdown etc. in KDE 4.x
KDM is unmaintained and not used in KDE Plasma 5. SDDM is the login manager used in KDE Plasma 5. If you still have this same issue with SDDM, please file an issue on the SDDM bugtracker (after doing a search for existing issues first!): https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/
