Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.3) Installed from: Mandrake RPMs OS: Linux An mbox kioslave would allow browsing mails in mboxes locally just as imap kioslave allows browsing them remotely. Thus any mail collection becomes transparent, just like archive files become transparent. A mime kioslave would allow konqueror to show the attachments in a mail. Does this looks like the jobs of kmail instead ? Well, consider cervisia and the cvs view in konqueror. They are complementary and share code. Mail handling could be more integrated with those kioslaves. And of course all the hidden power of the kioslave concept, that we discover bit after bit with the progress of the KDE project ! For example : -drag and drop directly an attachment onto the relevant application window. -a find file app would also find attachments that are relevant to the search query -more than we can imagine today Notice the parallel between mbox-mime and gz-tar. Please Cc me if there is discussion about this. Thanks a lot.
I wrote such slave for korn. I does exactly enough for korn. It split the mbox-file in several files like imap, and could extract a given email-number. If someone can use it, I can send it.
I think an MBOX KIO-slave for Konqueror/Dolphin whould help streamline things for the user: Here's my mailbox, here's the E-mails it contains, here's the attachment that's with that message. It's all part of the mentality that KDE seems to do so well: if its a file that the system recognizes it doesn't matter where it is, it should be possible to get to it through the file manager, like support for zip files.
Doesn't seem likely, sorry.
