Description Danijel Zezelic 2026-06-01 13:47:37 UTC
DESCRIPTION
I feel like this is a bug more than a feature request.
Clicking on an item in the system tray (eg. clipboard, audio devices, keyboard layout) doesn't give any visual feedback.
However, the reason why this is a bug (in my opinion) is when long pressing the item, the item gets progressively smaller. I think this animation (normal -> small -> normal) should play fully when the users clicks an item and if the user long presses it, the animation should stop midway (the icon just stops at the smallest size) and when the user releases it, the animation continues (small -> normal).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click on an item in system tray

OBSERVED RESULT
No animation.

EXPECTED RESULT
The item icon should do the animation: normal -> small -> normal.

Thanks for filing this bug report. I don't see this bug on Plasma 6.6.5. When I click on icons in the system tray, I see them briefly get smaller and then larger, so there is visual feedback.

Unfortunately there isn't enough information for us to begin our investigation. Please add information about your system as requested in the bug report template. Copy and paste this with the information into a new comment and set this back to REPORTED.

The quality is very bad since I took this recording with spectacle (I still don't understand why it chooses to record in a such low quality)

I can reproduce this weird issue:
1. The first click on a tray icon plays the "scale down" animation.
2. All subsequent fast clicks don't play it
3. Doing a click-and-hold resets this, so such that next short click plays the animation and resets the cycle.

Non-tray icons play no animation when clicked.

This is a mess. These are all buttons; IMO they should just use standard button semantics.

Fixed by Kamil Wolter with https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/commit/14c98940ab3e8fb5781680393c97026e8b08a079 in Plasma 6.9.0! We might also backport it to older releases.
