STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have a 64GB pendrive. 2. Go to a folder with heavy images. 3. Wait for them to load their miniatures. OBSERVED RESULT It never happens, almost as if there's a limit of how long that takes for it to load in order to refresh the thumbnail. Pressing F5 solves the issue immediatelly. EXPECTED RESULT It should refresh the thumbs once the thumbs are done, regardless of how long it takes to load it on the pendrive. Same thing with folders with images inside. I noticed that their thumbnails appear if I drag an item over the folders.
This affects everything, not just external drives; it affects internal drives. It also affects network-mounted shares, and I can confirm this issue doesn't happen on older Plasma releases. On the latest releases, thumbnails load inconsistently, and you have to refresh with F5 for the thumbnails to properly load, and sometimes using F5 doesn't work; you sometimes have to keep refreshing until the thumbnail eventually shows. Also i figured out that this thumbnail loading issue also affects the Desktop and Wallpaper settings.
So something is horribly wrong with thumbnailing in the latest plasma releases.
