SUMMARY
OpenCL acceleration still not available in 8.7.0 AppImage though it works in other apps

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start digikam (testet with digiKam-8.7.0-Qt6-x86-64.appimage)
2. In Preferences -> System, click "Test GPU AI compatibility"

OBSERVED RESULT
Starting OpenCV OpenCL DNN test...
Checking for OpenCL GPU acceleration compatibility with AI models...
Error: OpenCL is not available on this system.

Test failed. Your system may not be able to use GPU acceleration for the AI models.

EXPECTED RESULT
OpenCL is available on the system.
- Output of `clinfo` indicates that there is OpenCL support
- Darktable successfully uses opencl on the same system (testet with `darktable -d opencl`)

The NVIDIA/OpenCL support in OpenCV used by digiKam on the AppImage bundle need to be recompiled with the right options. This will be done soon for the 8.8.0 release.

The digiKam 8.8.0 pre-relelase AppImage have been rebuilt using last Qt 6.9.1, OpenCV 4.12, and KDE framework 6.16.

It's still saying "OpenCL is not available on this system". Tested with digiKam-8.8.0-20250720T145923-Qt6-x86-64.appimage

Please try again :

If someone wants to use CUDA and OpenCL support in digicam and has multiple GPUs in their system, they should set the GPU before starting the application.
To do this, you can use the following commands in the terminal:

    To use the first NVIDIA GPU: export CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES="0"
    To use the second NVIDIA GPU: export CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES="1"
    For systems with mixed AMD/NVIDIA GPUs (like mine): export OPENCV_OPENCL_DEVICE=NVIDIA:GPU
    Then, run digiKam using the following command: ./digiKam-8.7.0-Qt5-x86-64.appimage

Note: This will work also with current 8.8.0 pre-release AppImage.

Just tried the latest pre-release AppImage digiKam-8.8.0-20250915T060040-Qt6-x86-64.appimage and I can confirm that opencl now works on my system. Thank you very much!
