Description susanneabt 2022-12-20 09:52:55 UTC
This is not a bug but a wish:
I have albums on different external media.
When they are unmounted, I cannot see which medium is the one that holds the images.
Would it not be possible to have a hint via context menue? (So it shows the name/ label of that disk).
Also in the list where I add new albums in the settings .... no way to find out which medium it's on.

I don't quite understand the problem of how you organize your collections. Is it about them being able to see which collection is mounted in the album tree? Or do you have identical albums on different hard drives and want to know which hard drive it is? How did you integrate your collections, as a removable drive or as a network collection? I don't understand how the drive label is supposed to help. Why don't you give the collections unique names?

I have several external harddrives with collections on them. Of course they have unique names.
I do not remember each name/ drive combination (old age problem, I know). So I can see that a collection is not mounted, but I can not see which of the harddrives has to be mounted in order to access an image from the collection.
Maybe that's unusual to not have everything on one drive.
I wonder if it were not possible to show via mouseover or context menu where the original path is.
I would find that helpful. Maybe others as well.

For some time now, we've been displaying an unavailable collection with a red X icon at the album root. I think that should be sufficient.
