As reported in [0], this also happens in OpenSUSE Tumbleweed and Manjaro KDE.

The exact same thing also happens when selecting the ‘Audio Volume’ category in the ‘Multimedia’ module.
Comment 7 matheus4551 2018-11-23 17:24:38 UTC
It happens when the KCM is QQC2-based, on all platforms.
Comment 8 Patrick Silva 2019-01-17 22:24:37 UTC
This behavior persists in plasma 5.15 beta.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0

Comment 11 David Edmundson 2019-02-08 14:37:29 UTC
Same root cause - my patch doesn't fix it though.

It looks like none test how it looks new shiny KCM in icon view mode? Nate?
1. Open Desktop Effects
2. Click Desktop Effects (Workspace or Virtual Desktops)
3. Click Touch Screen (Screen Locking or Activities)

Result in *dancing* margin, it can't be seen in other looks.
Comment 15 Michał Dybczak 2019-07-02 18:09:50 UTC
I can confirm that the margin still (after all that time) jumps choosing different options, after all that time. The whole GUI is super inconsistent from option to option. Some have a different background, some have frames, frames are misaligned, etc. This all needs some common design UX.

Looks like this bug is fixed with Plasma 5.17.

I can spot some jumps and UI inconsistencies on the right side of the panel (in settings details) but the vertical line, that divides the section and detailed settings, is no longer jumping when changing subsections.

Tested on Manjaro unstable branch, on Breeze and kvantum application look (previously the bug was visible on both options).
Comment 18 Anthony Fieroni 2019-10-17 15:24:39 UTC
It's not fixed, but more kcms are rewritten in qqc2, but when you have qwidget vs qqc2 it has *dance*, looks like 2 different kcms frameworks have a different margins.
Comment 19 Patrick Silva 2019-10-17 15:45:38 UTC
by the way we'll have to wait until all KCMs are rewritten in qqc2 to solve this isue.
Comment 20 Michał Dybczak 2019-10-18 20:28:33 UTC
At least I can see the progress :).
