Only recent I can't get my computer to "pause" anymore. And also the energy-management doesn't succeed in this. When I ask my computer to go into pause-mode (suspension I believe) the screen flickers a few times and after that the computer is running normally again.

I'm afraid there isn't enough information in this bug to be actionable. Please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting and add the missing information.

I use a Dell Latttitude E5500 laptop (8 years old). I have to use the i8kutils to control the fan. Perhaps the issue lies there. I keep looking. Strangely enough Ubuntu Bionic Beaver works ok with this.
