Description Petr Bartos 2015-11-05 14:19:02 UTC
After login, krunner dialog is not "composited". The only way to fix it is to restart compositor or restart krunner. It was happening sometimes (very rarely) also in KDE4, however in Plasma 5 it is almost always. It is probably some race condition.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Login
2. Diplay krunner (alt+f2)
3.

Same behaviour here. It's composited only if I restart it. I've this issue since kde 5.3
Comment 3 Gunter Ohrner 2016-02-20 11:09:56 UTC
I can confirm this - for me, this only happens now since my upgrade from Plasma 5.5.3 to 5.5.4 - it worked fine before.

I can also confirm that killing and restarting krunner re-enabled compositing for this application for the current session.

With plasma 5.7, this behavior extended also to main panel (not so bad as krunner, however happens very often)
Comment 5 Kai Uwe Broulik 2016-09-01 10:50:21 UTC
Does this still happen? There was a fix in KWindowSystem [1] which should have fixed this.

Comment 6 Gunter Ohrner 2016-09-01 13:45:23 UTC
Currently, it works for me. However, the panel's (and krunners) opacity is so high, it's hard to distinguish sometimes if compositing is actually enabled for the panels or not.

Is there a way to influence the opacity?
Comment 7 Petr Bartos 2016-09-16 07:36:12 UTC
Works for me also. I think the opacity can be lowered by disabling "Background Contrast" in kwin settings.
