Description Unknown 2015-04-22 19:55:26 UTC
When the Breeze dark theme is selected, specific icons & symbols throughout the Kdenlive interface don't change to a lighter version. Makes them rather difficult to see or recognize.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Kdenlive
2. Go to "Settings", set theme to Breeze dark
3.

Actual Results:
General theme changes to dark theme, fonts are changed to lighter scheme, but icons and symbols (specifically in header bar, clip/project monitor controls and footer below timeline) don't show a lighter icon/symbol scheme.

Expected Results:
Expecting a more contrasting icon scheme with easy-to-see symbols.

Tested running Kdenlive 15.04.0 on Kubuntu 15.04 beta 2 (running KDE Plasma 5.3 beta). PPA's used: ppa:sunab/kdenlive-svn and ppa:kubuntu-ppa/beta.

Receiving a similar issue on Kubuntu 15.04, Plasma 5.2.2 running on VirtualBox 4.3.26.

Colors and icons don't apply to the task switcher and app launcher.

Reproduction steps:
1. Open settings
2. Set theme to breeze dark

Expected behavior:
Task Switcher and Application launcher receive the same dark theming as everything else.

Observed behavior:
Task Switcher and Application launcher become white-on-white, including symbols. Shadows do not change color, leaving a faint outline of window titles.

This is a general KDE issue. Changing the color theme does not change the icon theme. So when setting a color theme to something dark, icons in KDE applications are barely visible.

You need to manually change the icon theme from the Icons entry in System Settings to "Breeze Dark". This way, you get white icons that are recognizable on a dark color theme.

However, the problem is when you want to use a dark color theme only for one application, there doesn't seem to be a way to change the icon theme for one application only,

So I guess this is a general KDE color & icon issue and there is not much we can do from Kdenlive.

Can we get this bug moved to kwin then?

Not KWin related, but plasmashell - Theme Breeze. Reassigned.

Okay, made a brand-new LiveUSB and tested on my Lenovo U550 this morning with the same behavior as comment #1. Therefore, it's not an issue with VirtualBox's drivers, as has been suggested in some forum threads.

The initial issue was that the icon scheme didn't change when the theme changed for Kdenlive, exclusively (that that it was the only program affected, but it was my only point of focus). After testing Kdenlive in Kubuntu 15.10 x64 beta, changing the them and the icons in System Settings, everything appears to be working fine: the icons are now changed to the dark theme icons, and the Breeze dark theme works as well.

Issue appears to be resolved. Thanks for everyone's help!
