After hearing of the report on G+, I tested and found krunner unresponsive. It will pop up, but does not respond to user input.

$ apt-cache policy libkf5runner5
libkf5runner5:
  Installed: 5.9.0-0ubuntu1

is what changed today, according to Riddell

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. try a search
2. nothing happens
3. 2+3+
4. nothing happens

Actual Results:  
no results

Expected Results:  
search > results
application name > launch
2+3=5

I have the same symptoms as well, on 2 systems.

Confirmed for KDE Frameworks 5.9.0 & KDE Plasma 5.2.2 on Kubuntu 15.04

Closing as duplicate of the other bug that gets caused by plasma-framework 5.8 being installed with other frameworks at 5.9
