Description razinov.a.u 2013-01-04 13:30:19 UTC
The very wrong behavior of Dolphin and Folderview widget (in Desktop mode) that causes bad user experience and much work for user to revert all back. This situation occurs only if user drags and drops Trash from Places to Desktop, if it drags some folder from Places, the behavior will be ordinary.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have 200+ files in the trash (for a better visual effect).
2. Have some files on desktop widget (10+).
3. Open dolphin, look at Places.
4. Drag and drop "Trash" to Desktop widget.
Actual Results:
5. Too many unexpected files on Desktop (like 0-image.png). It is very unintuitive and disturbing. The files are contents of your trash.
6. There is no files in trash.
7. You have to clean your desktop manually.

Expected Results:
5. Link to trash folder. (That what I want, and I hope an average user wants after the aforementioned steps)

or

5. Disable this action. Anyway the actual result is a small disaster for user.

Note that if you drag a regular folder from Places panel to a Desktop, you will see a popup menu with options - copy/move/create link.

Note that my system locale is not Engilsh, but I have reproduced a bug with dolphin with English locale (only dolphin was in English).

Thanks for the bug report. The "0-"-issue is bug 183403.

I can confirm that dragging the trash from the 'Places' and dropping it somewhere moves the contents of the trash to that location. I cannot imagine that this is a Dolphin bug though - after a drop, showing the Move/Copy/Link menu and performing the chosen action is done by KonqOperations/KIO.

Works for me in KDE Frameworks 5.45.
