Description Raymond Wooninck 2012-10-28 12:45:05 UTC
I have attached a presentation in both pptx and ppt format. This presentation was created with Powerpoint 2007. After opening the PPTX file I noticed the following things:

1. Certain areas of a slide were not imported (e.g. the red text at the bottom of slide 3, slide 5, etc)
2. On slide 2 the bottom table has lines around the cells, but if I start the presentation, then these lines are not shown. This also happens with the table on slide 4.
3. The grouping graphic on slide 5 has been replaced by a similar symbol but with an additional line.

Opening the PPT file, shows me a little different result. Above item 1 still remains. I also noticed that on slide 2 an additional item appeared as if this was a bullet list (shows a 1.). The lines around the tables on slide 2 and 4 are now also shown while in presentation mode. Also the grouping graphic in slide 5 is imported/shown correctly.

All in all, I have to admit that the import filter is not bad at all. It does a better job then Libreoffice is doing of importing the same PPTX file. With Libreoffice the text is replaced by a different font and/or size, which would then require a lot of work to get a presentable presentation back. Calligra is doing this part very good and the main layout of the presentation remains correct.

Reproducible: Always

Issue 1

Looking at the document with msoffice2010, the size of the text frame is correct in the odp file.
The difference is that msoffice2010 does not cut the text to frame borders but let's it continue through it.

This behavior is something that cannot be changed in the filter.

Issue 2 was fixed with e40a9e3b3adeb1298abc2dca06c414569d426a6c

Issue 3 is an issue of the custom shape in calligra (it does not support the no-line line atm)

Thanks for the feedback.

I validated the bugs with a current git snapshot of calligra and based on your comments, I can indicate :

1)

Thanks for the feedback.

I validated the bugs with a current git snapshot of calligra and based on your comments, I can indicate :

1) If I enlarge the text-box on those slides, then the missing text is appearing. So I can resolve that one easily and with some font changes, this wouldn't be an issue anymore

2) This seems to be fixed and not fixed. The outer lines are indeed now there. If I edit the presentation, then I also see the inner lines, but as soon as I perform a "Show Presentation", then the inner lines are gone. I have tried to see if I can edit the object somewhere, but I couldn't find anything.

3) Ok. This wouldn't be a big issue.
