The version of KDE Partition Manager currently packaged cannot manipulate partitions on GPT disks. They appear in the UI but nothing can be done with them. See http://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php?60281&p=310429&viewfull=1#post310429 Such support is becoming more necessary as the number of computers with UEFI increases.
Also filed in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partitionmanager/+bug/1059297 ... I'm not sure whether this issue is Kubuntu specific.
Setting to fixed, GPT being implemented in SVN, as you even seem to be aware from the kubuntu forums discussion.
Yeah, I saw Claydoh's comment after I filed the bug report. Glad it's coming in, and apolgies for the unnecessary bug report.
It looks like the version included in KDE 4.10.2 (ubuntu 13.04 packages) is still 1.0.3 and still shoes GPT partition tables as read only. Will GPT full support be shipped with KDE 4.11?
Kubuntu devs have closed the bug in Launchpad because they're waiting for the upstream code to be moved out of SVN and into a full release. See comment #7 from Harald Sitter at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/partitionmanager/+bug/1059297 I will change the status to "unconfirmed" -- KDE folks, can we get an update on when we might see a newer release of partitionmanager move out of SVN?
