Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.80) OS: Linux in KDE 4.6beta1 as it's now possible run KDE _without hal_ I uninstalled it, but suspend/hibernate feature is afterwards not available in powerdevil. pm-suspend , pm-hibernate still work with hal running, susp/hibernate were offered. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: run kde4.6beta1 without hal and try to suspend/hibernate via powerdevil/system shutdown menu. Actual Results: not offered
Can confirm. No Suspend/hibernate buttons, No backlight information (shows minimal value).
Maybe we should try this: http://www.afiestas.org/one-step-closer-towards-a-kde-hal-free/
(In reply to comment #2) > Maybe we should try this: > http://www.afiestas.org/one-step-closer-towards-a-kde-hal-free/ Yes, works. Suspend/Hibernate buttons are back and works, still no backlight information and regulation.
Wow, thanks Marian, will try as well. btw, on my system, the file is located at: /usr/share/kde4/services/powerdevilupowerbackend.desktop the blog says to set InitialPreference = 20 (lower than the hal one) can confirm the missing backlight control, though Fn-keys work for me (but that's bios I think) Devs: shouldn't the change to InitialPreference default to upower, as hal is not a dependency anymore?
This bug is fixed in Beta2+, as now backend loading in the Power Management system is no longer dynamic but static (and most of all working). Those bugs were due to a faulty backend load in the power management system in Beta 1.
