Description Maciej Mrozowski 2010-08-06 20:22:49 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.0)
OS: Linux

Widget containing hidden system tray tasks does have layout/sizing issues - widget size does not reflect the contents (see screenshot) and has positioning issues as well.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make some system tray icons hidden (either auto or explicitly)
2. Expand 'Show hidden icons' (observe widget size, layout and selection bar by hovering over items)
3. Try to Show/hide hidden icons later on - widget may appear in a bit different position (further from Show/Hide button in horizontal layout), it may be as well resized differently even when contents is the same.

Happens since system tray and notifications rewrite. KDE SC 4.5 svn branch, Qt 4.6.3.

hidden icons widget

Widget drawing bugs appeared after closing one of hidden tasks (akonaditray in this case).
KDE SC 4.6.0, Qt-4.7.1

this is actually a different bug with similar results. the previous bugs were actually fixed. this is just a different way of triggering similar behaviour.

btw, this is one reason it is really, really useful to have clear, step-by-step descriptions of how to reproduce issues. e.g.:

* show the hidden icons dialog by clicking on the arrow icon
* right click on one of the entries that represents an application and select "Quit"
* after the application quits, a gap remains in the dialog
* if the icons configured to show or hide changes, then the dialog re-adjusts its size appropriately

Misplaced text in hidden tasks widget

Reproduction scenario is exactly like you described.

Even when hiddenTasksWidget() is not longer the place where the bug originally was (because it's been refactored for instance) - the bug itself (as shown in description, screenshots make it quite clear as well) IS NOT FIXED in 4.6.

That being said I'd prefer bug description being updated instead.

I'm (not for the first time) a bit annoyed with your a bit "shuffling issues under the carpet" attitude, Aaron. You clearly seem to prefer bugzilla bugs being closed instead of issues being fixed, that your call of course and not my business. Maybe plasma should refrain from using bugzilla because maintaining bugs takes too much of developers time.

But if you expect me to care to spend my time to open identical bug report with identical screenshots but with different description, I do not care anymore. Why should I, it wastes my time and it's futile. Please go ahead and write some rants on your blog showing myself as an example of about how unhelpful and rude community can be. Thanks.
