Description Alex 2010-07-02 22:36:46 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

if i select an url, it happens, that klipper opens the actions-menu twice. if i click in both menus on an action, klipper crashes.

things that may be relevant:
-maybe it happens, when moving the mouse around before klipper displays the menu
-im using "open menu at mouse position" setting

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
select an url, maybe moving the mouse fast away afterwards(?)

Actual Results:
two menus, crash if i click both

Expected Results:
only one opened menu

4.5 snapshot packages. but the bug exists in older versions, too.

I am using Kubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat with KDE SC 4.4.90. When I select an URL e.g in Firefox, the context menu appears twice, but Klipper doesn't crash when I choose an action in both menu,
Comment 2 Orion Poplawski 2010-07-15 00:54:31 UTC
Running Fedora 13 with 4.4.92 from kde-unstable. I can almost never get the klipper menu to come up right or to go away. Drawing of the menu is painfully slow too. qt 4.7.0 beta2.

Klipper does show two actions menus for me (but it doesn't crash if I click on them).
Comment 4 Otso Helenius 2010-10-13 20:50:57 UTC
This also happens for me in Fedora 13 and 14 x86_64 KDE spin with in KDE 4.5.0, .1 and .2.

Clicking on the other klipper popup window does nothing, it just vanishes, but clicking on the other opens up the link in the browser of my choice.

This bug has been bothering me for a very long time in the daily use of KDE as I use klipper very extensively.

The problem is present also in KDE 4.6.2 (with CLIPBOARD and SELECTION synchronization disabled)

I too have this issue on Gentoo with 4.9.
When I simply mark an URL, the menu pops up once, but when I right-click the URL and select copy, then the menu appears twice.

My Klipper doesn't crash. However, the first menu to appear (the lower one, if you will), has no effect. I copy the URL, two menus appear, I select an action from the topmost menu, which is then executed. I select the same action from the menu that is still visible, and nothing happens.

Same here - opens twice when selecting a url.
Klipper 4.9.2 in Gentoo 64.
Comment 9 Nick Leverton 2013-01-30 10:06:50 UTC
Another instance here of double klipper popup for URLs. Both popups are fully functional and on top of underlying windows, so I have to dismiss the second one before I can continue working.

OS is (k)ubuntu 12.10 with KDE beta PPA. This has only started happening in 4.10 beta 3, it did not occur in 4.10 beta2 or prior to that.
Comment 10 Nick Leverton 2013-02-14 15:05:07 UTC
Still happening in 4.10 release :-(
Comment 11 Nick Leverton 2013-03-07 18:10:10 UTC
On experimenting, I found that this does not happen with a new user so I deduced it must be something to do with my main user config.

I use manually saved sessions with my preferred set of tasks open. I guessed that perhaps, somehow, the session had got two instances of klipper saved, although I could not see any klipper instances at all in .kde/share/config/session.

Nevertheless what I did was to save the session again, and now the dual popups have stopped happening. Can't account for it other than the above but it's clearly user account dependent rather than a generic bug. Perhaps it arose on logout when i did the upgrade that seemed to cause it.

Dear Bug Submitter,

This bug has been stagnant for a long time. Could you help us out and re-test if the bug is valid in the latest version? I am setting the status to NEEDSINFO pending your response, please change the Status back to REPORTED when you respond.

Still valid. Plasma 5.14.2, Frameworks 5.51.0.

1. Enable clipboard actions (ctrl+alt+x).
2. Select a URL in Chrome for example, the actions context menu appears twice.

Thanks for the update!
Comment 15 Noah Davis 2023-08-11 03:15:05 UTC
Can confirm this is still a problem with Plasma 5.27. I don't get a crash like the original report, but I do get the double menu.
Comment 16 TraceyC 2025-01-09 22:08:18 UTC
I'm not able to reproduce the double action menu on 6.2.4. Can I ask anyone previously affected by this bug to please check if this is still an issue with either Plasma 5.27.11 (the current LTS version) or Plasma 6.2.4 (the latest released version)?

If you can still reproduce this, please change this report back to "CONFIRMED". Thanks!
Comment 17 leo_rockway 2025-01-10 03:15:39 UTC
I tried in 6.2.5 and this bug is not present any longer.(In reply to TraceyC from comment #16)

I am not using the menu since years. Others seem to report it works by now.
