Description johnf 2010-06-24 19:22:20 UTC
Version: 2.3.0 (using KDE 1.2)
OS: Linux

Running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 LTS and an earlier version of Amarok (sorry I don't know what it was). The old setup used to work fine and I could update Collections and switch between them (I had 2 folders below my Music folder). With the current setup but still with the original music files, any scan or rescan I do to update a collection does not result in a collection. It does not crash. Also the Amarok GUI says I can right-click a folder to individually rescan it, but it won't take a right-click. I can use File mode to find music files and play them but I want to use Collection mode so that I can take advantage of the filters and find files by, say, Genre.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Running Amarok 2.3.0 under Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Try to scan or rescan to update a collection.

Actual Results:
No collection created.

Expected Results:
New collection created.

This is a packaging error in Ubuntu, you lack some libmysql packages essential for Amarok. Please file this bug in Launchpad as it is distribution specific. The package works fine for KDE users as those libraries are already loaded with KDE, but need to be added separately for non-KDE users.
