When you create a new puzzle from an image, would be very useful if you let the user crop the image using a rubberband-like interface.
Somethink like kmess do for specifing the user avatar (http://www.baixaki.com.br/imagens/59539/57175.jpg)

Good idea, though this feature will likely not appear too soon. Until then, you will have to work around this problem with an image editing software of your choice.
