Description Javier Ariza Rodriguez 2010-03-09 01:31:53 UTC
Version: 3.4.1 (using KDE 4.4.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Hi, this problem is some ramdom, but it's very annoying.
1) I open konqueror, and then, go to some ftp folder.
2) right click on a file, and then, open with -> kate.
3) the problem is:

sometimes the files is opened as a remote file, p.e. if the file is named test.txt , the file appears in kate as test.txt . and if i click save, the remote file is saved.

but another times, the file appears as 242342.test.txt (number before filename), and the file is opened as a temporary file, so if i click save, the tmp file is saved, and the changes are not uploaded until y close kate (and only one file is uploaded).

I think the normal beaviour should be kate opens the remote file as a remote file (test.txt, as kde 3.5) and not as 234234.file (temporary file).

Thanks a lot.

I checked this bug is in kde, and not in kate. Because if i open the ftp file from file->open in kate, all works ok.

The problem is only when i try to edit a file from a remote ftp, with "Open / Open with" and chossing kate.

That works for me and kate correctly registers itself as Exec=kate -b %U to allow opening with URLs.
If that still happens, please open bug for kdelibs or the application starting kate.
