Description mathew 2009-10-21 17:40:18 UTC
Version: 4.2.4 (using KDE 4.2.4)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I just had a very confusing session with krdc to a Windows system.

I thought that something had locked up, until I eventually discovered that my mouse buttons were reversed.

I mouse with a trackball using my left hand, so the button which is physically on the right of the trackball is "left mouse". My KDE System Settings have left-handed mouse selected. krdc appears to ignore this, and sends a "right mouse" event to Windows when I click my "left mouse" button (which is on the right).

I'm not sure if this should be a wishlist entry, but it something that could be improved.

I'm having this issue on KRDC 4.7.2 / KDE 4.7.2 r5 on OpenSuSE.

Personally I'd classify this as a Bug, not Wishlist. I have the unfortunate task of supporting a number of Windows servers, and run KRDC on one monitor with the rest of my KDE environment (firefox, thunderbird, etc.) on another monitor. It's absolutely infuriating. Even worse is the fact that I use a trackball on my home workstation and a mouse in the office, so it works right at work but not at home (so changing the mouse settings on the Windows boxes isn't an option).

For anyone else experiencing this issue, the frustration of having to consciously change which mouse button is clicked when moving from the KRDC window to anything native KDE is beyond what I can express. I understand that it's probably a limited set of people who run into this, but for those of us who do, it's a pretty major productivity issue.

Confirmed with KRDC 4.8.1 / KDE 4.8.1 on Fedora 16 as well.

Can we please have an update on this? I'd call it more than a wishlist, it really impacts the core functionality of KRDC, especially when working with KRDC from multiple computers with different mouse mappings.

At the very least, as a stop-gap measure, there should be a prominent note on first startup that KRDC does not respect mouse button mappings.

I have the same issue. However, I was previously running Kubuntu and there Krdc did respect the left-mouse button setting.
I am now running Debian (KDE), and the preference does not carry over to the same windows session.

So there must be some reason why it does work on Kubuntu, but not debian KDE. I could not find any difference in the settings file ~/.kde/share/apps/krdcrc

Perhaps the issue is related to X server.

Correction to last comment - krdcrc is in ~/.kde/share/config/
There are more configuration files in ~/.kde/share/apps/krdc/
