Description Hyacinthe Cartiaux 2009-04-27 00:34:15 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

I've created 2 network folders, one named "Big Computer" which uses SSH, and a second named "Freebox" which uses FTP.
First, I can not drag and drop network folders in the places panel.
When I right click on a network folders, I can choose : "add to places".
This action works, but when I click on the shortcut for the corresponding network folder in the places panel, dolphin appends the name of the network folder to the name of the server folder that I've specified.

For example, I add "Freebox" to the places panel. Then, I click on the shortcut, and it does not work because dolphin try to access ftp://freebox@hd1.freebox.fr/Freebox instead of just ftp://freebox@hd1.freebox.fr/

Same problem with my SSH folder, dolphin try to access "fish://hyacinthe@192.168.0.10:22/home/hyacinthe/Big Computer" instead of "fish://hyacinthe@192.168.0.10:22/home/hyacinthe/"

Hope I can help you, sorry for my approximative description, I use French localization, kde 4.2.2 and archlinux (testing).

Thanks for the bug report! I can confirm both issues (that you can't drag&drop a network folder to the Places panel and that opening it from the Places panel does not work when it's been added using the context menu) using an FTP network folder on 4.2.2 and trunk rev. 960022.

I'm not sure if these issues are related (if they are not, they should be filed as separate reports) and if they are bugs in Dolphin or in the kioslave, but maybe Peter knows.

@Frank: I think we have 2 issues here, which probably are located in the kioslave and kfileplacesview (kdelibs). However I'd suggest to leave the issue assigned to Dolphin until I found some time to analyze this issue. I've added Kevin (= kfileplacesview maintainer) to CC.

I can confirm this also with dolphin. When I try to drag&drop my samba network folder to add it to my places, it does not work, but when I right click on a network folder and use option "add to places", it works.

I am using Kubuntu Jaunty with kde 4.2.2.

Still here in 4.2.91 ...
Comment 5 Hyacinthe Cartiaux 2009-08-10 12:32:33 UTC
I confirm the two bugs still exist in kde 4.3 :(

Same problem here with webdav folders.

Kubuntu KDE 4.3.1

I failed to reproduce the "appended name" problem with sftp and ftp folders using KDE SC 4.8 RC2. Drag & drop still does not work.
Comment 8 Hyacinthe Cartiaux 2016-10-12 13:49:36 UTC
Fixed for me, I can't reproduce anymore with dolphin from kde sc 16.08.1
