Version: (using KDE 3.5.10) OS: Linux Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages TEST SETUP 1. Copy some HOME related ddress from terminal. An example ~/tmp 2. Paste it into konqeror's address bar. Press RET to activate panel 3. The address bar epxands the tilde (~) to absolute path. EFFECTS When the path is transformed from (~) to absolute path, information is lost. The address can no longer be copied back to the applications residing in other hosts (NFS/automounted etc). Example: Host A maps ~ to /home (localhost; konqueror; browsing dirs) Host B maps ~ to /home/u/ User navigates/borowses information in Host A un konqueror. When he finds what he's looking for, he'd like topy the path location: for use in host B. If the address were preserved in tilde form (~), the path information, could have been copy/pasted to another application needing it, in Host B. Here, the host B's terminal window would have been open, where the path infromation could have been be pasted. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS Please preserve the tilde with the path in the adddress bar.
this is a wish, still valid for 4.6.4
