In KDE3 akregator is was possible to drag an article from the article list to e.g. a konqueror window.

No longer with akregator 1.4.
Yes, in principle it is possible with double click, but drag'n drop is more convenient since one has more control on which target window or tab the article will be opened.

This feature is very important since akregators inbuild browser is no adequate replacement for a real browser because it supports only a subset of konqueror features (think of bookmarking, browsing history, quick change of fontsize, full screen feature to name just a view).

This is a regression and has already been reported once as Bug 103387.
