Description Zanette Arrigo 2009-02-12 14:11:08 UTC
Version:           4.2.00 (using KDE 4.2.0)
Compiler:          gcc 4.3.2
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages

Setting a keyboard shortcut for a window using either:

Advanced->Windows Shortcut menu

or

Advanced->Special application settings->Preferences->Shortcut

causes the desktop to freeze for 10/20 seconds closing that window.

From duplicate 195757: "Disabling the window shortcut, or disabling desktop effects solves the problem"

So this seems to be related to desktop effects. Does disabling fade effect help?
Comment 5 Peter Palm 2009-06-09 17:28:35 UTC
No, it doesn't.

I've disabled all effects, and the problem still occurs.

What I meant to say in my first report was:
'Disabling compositing (alt+shift+F12) solves the problem'
Comment 6 Peter Palm 2009-08-13 18:42:07 UTC
I'm now running 4.3, and the problem seems to be solved.
Comment 7 Thomas Lübking 2009-08-13 20:47:22 UTC
ok, closing.
please reopen if the problem reappears.
thanks.
