This looks a bit like a duplicate of: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=183754 .. which has ben fixed today. Could you download the latest packages tomorrow (those that were built today) and check whether the problem is still there? If so, please tell us, so I can close this bugreport.
Confirmed; updating digikam today has fixed the crashing for me.
