This bug is valid. I'm using kubuntu "4:4.1.85-0ubuntu1~intrepid1~ppa1" package.

When trying to use a proxy authentication doesn't work.

More over if I use local squid server as a workaround to get through the companies proxy authentication(so squid authenticates for me) then I can surf normal http websites but https websites all don't work with "Unexpected Program Termination".

Hence konqueror is pretty useless if you trying to go via a proxy.

AFAIK Andreas has new http authentication code ready for testing.

Could you test workaround from bug http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=179934
(r910708). It works for me but I don't use auth proxy.
Comment 6 Divan Santana 2009-01-15 13:19:32 UTC
I'd like to test it but how do I apply the patch? (Sorry never done it before...)
Comment 7 alexis.deruelle 2009-02-05 17:18:25 UTC
I can confirm that https through proxy is only partially fixed.

I could log into hotmail live but https sites like https://bugs.kde.org or bugzilla.redhat.com doesn't even load.
Comment 8 Igor Poboiko 2009-03-02 10:40:36 UTC
Bug still exists in KDE 4.2 from Debian Experimental repo.

Hallo

as soon as I hit a button in a https site I get a konqui timeout message without waiting the configured time. The main problem: It does not occur every time but mostly with shops (like amazon).

My system: Fedora 10, KDE 4.2.1

Thanks for KDE btw.
Comment 11 FiNeX 2009-09-08 13:54:40 UTC
Could this be a dup of bug #169911 ?

I don't think this is related. Here this error occurs only with https
protocoll over a proxy. Direct access is no problem. Within a fraction of a
second the error message says that within the timeout (20 seconds) the server
does not respond.

I run into the same problem here, on KDE 4.3.1. Accessing a https url is
impossible with a corporate http proxy. Seems like
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=188073 is about the same bug.
Comment 14 dag 2009-10-05 20:54:21 UTC
Here 4.3.1 using Mandriva 2009.1. Same thing. https through proxy almost unusable, direct fails 1/10 of accesses.
Comment 15 dag 2009-10-05 20:57:28 UTC
Additional facts:
- No authentication in the proxy
- Connection through WiFi
- Selfcompiled 4.3.1 downstairs see none of the same problems ??
Comment 16 Andreas Hartmetz 2009-10-13 22:21:41 UTC
At least currently the cause is a known bug in Qt (the bug might have been caused by something else earlier). I have little hope of getting that bug fixed anytime soon, so I'll have to look into workarounds...

SSL through a proxy has never worked for me at work in the kde4 series. I use firefox instead of konquoror, but this also affects plasmoids and anything else that uses the kde network settings.
Comment 18 Divan Santana 2009-11-20 10:45:54 UTC
This bug is severity should be increased.
It basically means you can not use a KDE distro at any location that enforces a SSL proxy which is at a lot of works.
Comment 19 Wickersheimer Jeremy 2009-11-21 16:57:57 UTC
Same here. I think it might be related to this:

I was having trouble connecting to some https site (using privoxy) that worked perfectly in opera/firefox/arora, so i checked the privoxy log; one big difference is that konqueror sends the IP address instead of the hostname to the proxy.

This also means that konqueror would be leaking DNS request and could also cause issues with corporate setup where the resolution is expected to be on the proxy.

But then, it seems like a simple fix.
