i.e. a protocol autodetection would be required (vnc/rdp)

Protocol autodetections is quite complicated to implement. Do you think it would help if VNC is assumed as default protocol if none is defined?

SVN commit 730854 by uwolfer:

Try to recover unusable URLs (e.g. if the protocol is missing). Default protocol is VNC if none is set (this was also the default in KDE 3 times...).

Krdc could also complete the protocol where the rest of the URL is a bookmark or can be found in the history.
