I think that Kile UI could see dramatic imrovements without loosing any power :

First : the tabs of the sidebar should always have the same size and not just an icon but also a text.
Second : empty the toolbars. There far too much icons and not enough text. 

For this, I suggest to have much of the content of the toolbar to go in the sidebar, and to have only 4 tabs : 
* Structure
* Symbols
* Compile
* Files & Project

Tab structure : business as usual
Tab Files & Projet : idem

The aim of this tab is to merge all kind of latex symbols in the toolbar and in the sidebars

This first part is inpired by how K3B lets you choose between an audioCD, a data CD, ...

When I click on Greek letter, the tab will be remplaced by the actual tab with the greek letters that we have now. Just add a backlink to the main 'Symbols' tab like in the following proposal for amarok :

The second half of this sidebar tab will have the icons of the toolbar which have something to do with inserting some latex symbols that is :
