Description i.mc 2005-09-28 00:41:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports
Compiler: GCC 3.4.4 Configured with: FreeBSD/i386 system compiler / Thread model: posix / gcc version 3.4.4 [FreeBSD] 20050518
OS: FreeBSD

Hi,

I'm running KDE 3.4.2 on my laptop, which is used in a few different networks. Most of the time I use a wireless connection. From some of these networks connections to specific site are very slow, for instance to n24.de. Konqueror takes a very long time to complete loading, whereas firefox does it normaly in approx. 3-4 seconds. All the settings point to default, I flushed all the cache and the history, respectively. Running konqueror from console only shows the following output:

kio (KMimeType): WARNING: KServiceType::offers : servicetype application/x-activex-handler not found

I have compared my system to an older Linux (Debian / Knoppix 3.6) running KDE 3.2.3. It showed exactly the same problems, so it cannot be a FreeBSD oder Linux issue. I also tried disabling IPV6 and decreasing the MTU, nothing helped.

Cheers, Jochen

How did you try to disable IPv6?
Comment 2 i.mc 2005-09-28 09:04:27 UTC
I set "export KDE_NO_IPV6=1" in /etc/profile and also compiled a kernel without IPV6 support.

I'm not sure /etc/profile is sourced before KDE is started. Can you try adding it to ~/.xsession or ~/.kde/env/something.sh equivalent? Just to make sure.
Comment 4 i.mc 2005-09-28 13:04:54 UTC
Tried ~/.xsession, no effect.

Does the problem still exist in KDE 3.5?
Comment 6 Philip Rodrigues 2006-11-19 23:19:03 UTC
Feedback timeout, but please reopen if the problem still exists with KDE 3.5
