Description Calvin Spealman 2005-05-15 08:23:20 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)

I installed KDE 3.4 the other day and have been looking around, looking for what is different. The first thing I noticed was the nifty pop-ups for the kicker buttons. The second thing I noticed was the new start screen for Konquerer. I then realized I might have some trash lying around, so I clicked the nice Trash icon to see what I had in there. This is when I realized something is missing.

That first page was a logical parent, in an interface sense, of all of the items it could take you to. And, most or all of those items had no parent, as they were all the roots of their respective Kio slaves, or where not Kio slave related at all and thus are not related to this wish, so ignore those ones.

What I am proposing is simply that at any point in browsing there should be a simple "Up" direction, so one can always "pull back" and get a bigger look at things, so to say. I could not do this, because trash:// has no up direction. Kio should be able to determine some kind of parent for these URLs, or the slaves should be able to report one themselves. This would make the whole system seem just a little more tied together.

That's what the back button is for.
