Thanks for reporting. Everyone feel free to inspire new solutions for bookmarking pages. On TODO list we have a related entry. (btw we'll have at least shortcuts for recalling bookmarks very soon) What about a possibility to give a bookmark a name? It could be optional, and e.g. default to a (page) number or section name. The name could be displayed in the preview, where the page # is displayed, too. Creating a new bookmark should not necessarily show up a new dialog. The bookmark could be created direclty with the default name, and then renamed e.g. by pressing F2 (and additionally by clicking at the name in the preview, right click -> "Rename", menu, ...). I'm adding this here, since it will be useful when listing all bookmarks, too. The bookmark list could look similar to the preview list, except that searching looks at the bookmark's name as well. Cheers to the developpers of my favourite pdf reader :) PS: is the shortcut already in 3.4.1? Agreed... even if there was a way to navigate to "next/previous bookmark", that would be useful, but there is nothing to support any added bookmarks at all. Has this been resolved in 0.5? I'll add a bit to this report. I opt for two kind of bookmarks -- global and local. Local bookmarks would be per loaded document. But the global bookmarks would be per all _documents_ (plural). I suggest using two distinct terms -- it could be library links and bookmarks -- so the user would not get confused (besides, global & local boomarks sounds too technical to me). Both of them should work like bookmarks in Konqueror. So you could just add them (the document, chapter, page should be remembered) or you could title them as you wish. There should be new options for bookmarks in the settings, like: * each library link is duplicated as a bookmark (default: true) * each bookmark is duplicated as a library link (default: true) I hope I don't have to explain what should happen if the user click on the library link, right? :-) While rendering page there should be a small icon (for example: blue for simply bookmark, green for library) of course as an option (default: true). It could be really powerful feature. Btw. loosely related thing -- please, change the bookmark icon. It should be really a boomark. Using well recognized symbols (attachment) for quite different thing is a bad idea. I think the bookmarks should be implemented using a new sidebar tab. It seems a sensible way to do it, and I've heard that it's how Adobe Reader does it, so you'd also have a familiar interface for people migrating to KDE. *** Bug 149324 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I would love to see this as well! I think there should be some way to save the bookmarks in a session file, so that you can dynamically load and unload bookmarks from these files. That way, you will be able to send your bookmarks to your friends, or download them along with the PDF. This would be extremely helpful with Ebooks! Closing this wish. kpdf is no longer under development and the okular team has already implemented it. If you have more wishes to okular bookmarking system please open a separate bug. |
