fixed for kde 3.4 Well, how about fixing it for 3.3.2? I need a fix for my otherwise working stable release and I won't upgrade to a beta version. I second that: "fixed for kde x.y" is not quite informative, please state at least the affected files. I am also not in favour of using complete KDE-3.4 (or is that kopete compilable with KDE-3.3.2?) Or lets say a patch would be good enough. I tried compiling kopete from 3.3.92 aka 3.4beta2 today, but the binary wouldn't load, crashed with unresolved symbols, so I guess no go for 3.4 code in 3.3.2. Right now I am running Gaim, but that's not why I switched to KDE. Ok, I see the devs are busy to the brim with the upcoming 3.4 release, but this sounds like you ditched 3.3 support even before you released the new version. There's a gap then and this is "only" kopete - what if kmail or konqueror had a crash bug that's likely to occur every 5 minutes? Unfortunetly option to upgrade to kde 3.4 is not available to everyone, especially not when 3.4 is still just out of oven. I see backporting is not trivial, icq support seems to have very much changed since 3.3... http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=297861 Please see the discussion in the other bugs related to this problem. Backporting the fix for Kopete 0.9.x isn't feasible and 0.10 will not work on KDE 3.3. We're trying a workaround. CVS HEAD and KDE_3_4_0 compile on KDE 3.3, see Bug 101371 and log: revision 1.104 date: 2005/03/13 13:39:02; author: wstephens; state: Exp; lines: +2 -0 Fix compilation on KDE 3.3 Emoticons don't work on KDE 3.3 though. Sorry, I was wrong: KDE_3_4_0 does not compile on KDE 3.3. Fixed in 3_3_BRANCH |
