Description Rainer Wirtz 2005-02-15 19:35:58 UTC
Version:            (using KDE Devel)
Installed from:    Compiled sources
OS:                Linux

When opening a copy of http://www.asponews.org/docs/Newsletter023.pdf from my harddisc in konqueror, first the embedded kpdf is invoked. When I switch to kghostview (view->view mode->ps/pdf viewer) then konqueror freezes. I can open the file in a standalone kghostview and I can open it using RMB->preview in->kgostview, but then switching to kpdf and back to kghostview (view->view mode...) freezes konqueror.

Perhaps related to the many double-open freezes reports for kpdf?
Comment 2 Rainer Wirtz 2005-02-15 22:41:40 UTC
No I think not. It's when switching to kghostview, not kpdf, when this happens, and it's only happening when using view->view mode.
Comment 3 Rainer Wirtz 2005-02-15 23:15:36 UTC
This is the output when starting from console, only the last lines

konqueror: KonqMainWindow::slotPartActivated 0x85db0d0 kghostview
konqueror: New current view 0x8327488
kparts: MainWindow::createGUI, part=0x85db0d0 KGVPart
kparts: deactivating GUI for 0x8367060 KPDF::Part
konqueror: KonqMainWindow::setLocationBarURL: url = /home/ratz/Documents/Peak oil/ASPO-Newsletter/Newsletter023.pdf
kdecore (KConfigSkeleton): KConfigSkeleton::writeConfig()
kdecore (KConfigSkeleton): KConfigSkeleton::readConfig()

When I try a different file (no freeze), the next line is:

kparts: Part::~Part 0x84fda20

I further found out that it is not switching to kghostview, but switching away from kpdf that freezes konqi.

A duplicate of 99486 and 99473 kpdf "dies" with that particular document freezing konqueror if embedded on it.
