Neither your backtrace nor description tell me what you are actually trying to do. What are you playing mp3 files with (application names)? What does artsplay /path/to/some.wav do (i.e. do you hear something)? What are your soundserver settings ("artsshell status" output)? Which arts version is this on ("artsshell version" will tell you)? Please also consider recompiling arts with debug-infos (add --enable-debug when running configure script) and add a backtrace generated with that artsd. kaboodle crashes. juk crashes. my soundserver uses ALSA (it does work with console, without KDE) if i do artsplay it crashes as usual (soundserver) its arts version 1.2.3 I really gotta say thanx, you really put attention to the bug reports. still, don't worry, as long as i don't use progs that are related to arts i can hear sound ok. i know you guys are very busy, don't get too much into it, i "fixed" the prob, in some way. its just bad luck that i can't use some of KDE's progs. best regards Hmm, could simply be a badly compiled artsd. Also try using "threaded oss" instead of "alsa" output. You can change it in the soundserver settings. i tried the threaded oss... and boy was that bad. KDE crashed completely, had to reboot... i tell ya, it looked like micro$oft. but like i said before, don't worry, i'll probably load up a newer version of KDE when i get slackware 10.1, i dunno... i posted the bug to see if it would help somebody with the same problem as me. still, thanx a lot man, i appreciate your help.
